JUST IN: Oyo Assembly Approves Ten(10) Additional Advisers To Governor Makinde, Dissolves 2018 LGA/LCDA Election



The Oyo State House of Assembly, this Tuesday approved a request by the Executive governor of the state, Engineer Seyi Makinde, of additional 10 special advisers.

The request delivered to the house in a message sent to the lawmakers was encoded in a letter from the executive governor, and read by the clerk of the house, Mrs. Felicia Oyediran and moved for approval by the Majority leader honorable Sanjo Adedoyin, and seconded by the Minority leader, honorable Asimiyu Alarape.


Meanwhile, the 9th assembly has described the conduct of elections into the 33 Local Government Areas and 35 Local Council Development Areas by the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC), in May, 2018 in the state as Unconstitutional and Ultra-vies.

The house, after an hour thorough deliberation and cross-fire on a Matter of Urgent Public Importance brought to the floor of the house by the Majority leader, honorable Sanjo Adedoyin; titled: "Need to Review The Activities of Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) Over Conduct of Local Government and Local Council Development Areas Election In Conformity With Provision Of The Laws" resolved and okayed the dissolution of the Board of Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) stating that, it was in the public interest and preservation of the sanctity of the 1999 
Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.


The lawmakers also deliberated on The Urgent need to arrest the Scarcity of Teachers in Public Schools in Rural Areas of the state and also discussed on Urgent need to Reconstruct Speed breakers/stoppers at the University of Ibadan Second Gate Road in Order to Safeguard the lives of commuters who ply the Road.

The House, Therefore,  constituted an  8-man committee and 2-man committee respectively to investigate the matters and submit their report to the house within two weeks.
