OYRTMA Collaborates With NANS, To Establishs OYRTMA Student Club Across Tertiary Institutions In Oyo State.


The National Association of Nigerian Students joint campus committee Oyo state on Tuesday, 7th January 2020 met with the chairman of Oyo State Traffic Management Authority OYRTMA, Mogaji Akin Fagbemi, to discuss the areas in which Nigerian students can come in as far as the agency is concerned, and where the agency can help the students as well.

In a statement release by the Secretary-General of the association Comrade Salawudeen Oyewale George to Naija TODAY News stated that "the Acting Chairman, Comrade Omoniyi Afeez, appreciated Dr. Akin Fagbemi and called him a true leader and a father in struggle. Comrade Afeez said he really respect him for creating time out of his busy schedule to host them. He further made a request from OYRTMA Chairman on how he will personally help students due to his antecedent in student struggle and how the agency can come in too.

In his welcome address, the OYRTMA Chairman Mogaji Akin Fagbemi appreciates the student body and encourage them that leadership is about responsibilities in itself. He charged the association on leadership, taking keynote about health, sacrifice, diligent and companionship. He advised NANS to see their current position as an opportunity to serve and have an impact.

"To be fearless, make sacrifices and be time cautious in all their dealings as their position is about time. “If you must be a good leader, you must abstain from anything that will stain your name and a leader must not be afraid of criticism,” he added. He continued that they must not see their current position as the end as there is more in life that they can offer. He explained how he was once a student like them, who served in different capacities concerning student movement, as the PRO of NANS, President of department, etc., and still serving presently as the Secretary of NAFST.


After much deliberations and engagements from senators and the Chairman himself, they reach the following conclusions that;

• The Agency will be ready to collaborate with NANS to establish OYRTMA Student clubs across all tertiary institutions in Oyo state that will serve as Mayor for the agency and help in sensitizing the public.
• The Chairman will be ready to collaborate with the association in creating job opportunities that will help the indigenous students to work while they study.
• The Agency will be ready to attend symposium and seminars.


Among entourage with NANS Acting Chairman are the Public Relation Officer, Comrade Olayiwola Taiwo (El Tee), Senator Salawudeen Olasunkanmi (Sp) of OYSCATECH Igboora, Senator Fadare Blessing of The Polytechnic Ibadan, Senator Olayiwola Toheeb (Tsquare) of Federal School of Surveying, Oyo and Comrade Afolabi Ayodamope Afoo.
