AKESAN MARKET: We Will Work Collectively With Committees Set Up By Oyo Town To Reconstructs AKESAN MARKET To International Standard — Makinde


The Oyo state government says it will work collectively with committees set up by Oyo town and Oyo East local government to reconstruct Akesan Market to International standard.

Governor Seyi Makinde stated this when he visited the Akesan Market and the Alaafin of Oyo to commiserate with the people of the town over the sad incident.

No doubt,the inferno at the popular Akesan Market in Oyo town has continued to attract notable dignitaries including Politicians and well meaning Nigerians to the ancient town of Oyo to commiserate with the people  and Oba Lamidi Adeyemi over the loss.

Governor Seyi Makinde had immediately after the incident sent a high power delegation led by the Oyo state Commissioner for public Works and Transport,Prof Raphael Afonja to Akesan market for on the spot assessment of the fire disaster which destroyed goods and properties worth millions of naira.

The delegation was also instructed to ensure the immediate clearing of the damaged shops and other debris in the market.

Governor Seyi Makinde on arrival at the town went straight to Akesan Market before visiting the  Alaafin of Oyo Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi the third at his palace

Governor Seyi Makinde at the Palace of  Oba Adeyemi said Oyo state government will not politicize the incident  at the Akesan Market.

The Governor explained that within the shortest possible time Akesan Market will be redesigned and reconstructed  to meet up with  International Standard.

On the Fire Station damaged and vandalized by Some Protesters and aggrieved youth, Governor Seyi Makinde said  arrangements are being made towards upgrading facilities at all the Fire Service stations across the state to enable response to emergency promptly

In his address,the Alaafin of Oyo Oba Lamidi Adeyemi said Oyo town will work collectively with the state government to ensure speedy completion of the shops and stalls in  Akesan Market destroyed by the inferno.

Governor Seyi Makinde had earlier Visited another scene of the inferno at Iyaganku Area where furniture and other materials worth millions of Naira were equally  razed  by fire.
