Oyo Government Collaborates With RUFIN, Flag Off Training At Akinyele LG.

The Oyo state government in pursuant of its Agricultural revolution agenda has activated a training program through the federal government supported Rural Finance Institution-Building (RUFIN) Program in Oyo state by flagging off agribusiness training in Akinyele Local government in Ibadan on Wednesday.

In a statement released by the ministry Media Officer, Olufunmilayo Adekunle stated that "Oyo State Government through Honourable Commissioner Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development expressed delight as a counterpart of the training program which is sponsored by the State government, and added that it was the prospect of the training  program like this that prompted swift payment of Oyo state counterpart fund to the program.

The Honorable commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Hon. Ojemuyiwa Jacob Ojekunle who was represented by the Coordinating Director, Dr Peter Adegunwa while delivering his speech at the flag off stated that the program would not have been made possible if not for the prompt payment of the counterpart fund by governor Seyi Makinde considering its quick win prospects.

"The Commissioner added that farmers across the state work tirelessly every year with little to show for their efforts as a result of lack of adequate markets to absorb the high farm produce especially at peak periods of harvest.

He said the farm produce that were hitherto wasted on the farm would now easily be transformed into cash with little efforts, more jobs would be created through the value chain, and rural-urban migration would reduce drastically.

RUFIN State Project Coordinator, comrade Olushola Ogundiran who is also one of labour leaders in Oyo state in his brief remark "thanked Oyo state governor, Engr  Seyi Makinde for his proactive approach to governance which has led to several unprecedented and ground breaking achievements. 

Comrade Ogundiran particularly expressed his joy at the synergy between RUFIN and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development under the leadership of honorable Ojemuyiwa which led to the birth of the first phase of the training program adding that the program is meant to create jobs, reduce poverty, reduce rural urban migration, and to create economic prosperity for the state.

The Honorable commissioner  stated that the training program was in line with governor Makinde's agric revolution agenda which aims to industrialize Oyo state economy through agriculture.

Hon. Ojemuyiwa stressed that the first phase of the training is to build human capacity of all participants after which empowerment will follow in a deliberate move to engage the people productively while developing the economy further.

He said that the Silo project which is to store up farm produce will be completed for the state government buffer programme. 

He however charged participants to pay rapt attention to the training in order to become productive members of the society after the training and also charged the training consultants to adhere strictly to the terms of agreement. 

Some of the product of the training include high quality iru (locust beans), semo, corn starch, odourless fufu powder, tapioca, cassava chips, potato chips, cashew nuts, tumeric and ginger powder.
