JUST IN: IGP Finally Endorses "Operation Amotekun" For Southwest Governors.

Following the rumored invitation of southwest governors yesterday, the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has endorsed the Operation Amotekun

Naija TODAY News reports that, amid alleged ‘ethnic fears’, the yoruba governors had been summoned for explanation ahead of today’s launch.

According to The PUNCH, the endorsement of the security initiative followed the visit by Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State to the IG at the force headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday.

Fayemi, who is also the Chairman of the Nigeria Governor’s Forum reportedly met with Adamu where they discussed the operational modalities for the regional security outfit which would be inaugurated in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Thursday (today).

A source said, “Governor Fayemi has met with the IG and both men agreed on the need for the security outfit to take off as soon as possible to address the security challenges in the South-West. They also discussed the technical details and the IG fully endorsed the initiative.”

The police spokesman, DCP Frank Mba, failed to respond to inquiries on the regional security outfit as calls to his phone rang out. He had yet to respond to a text message as of the time of filing this report.

Makinde To Appoint Adviser On Labour Matters, Negotiate Minimum Wage With Workers

The Oyo State governor-elect, Engr Seyi Makinde has congratulated the Nigerian Labour Congress in Oyo State on this year’s Labour Day and urged them to protect the interest of their members. In a release signed by his spokesperson, Prince Dotun Oyelade, Makinde said it is pertinent for the labour union and government to engage in constant dialogue in a very transparent and sincere manner to move the state forward at the advent of new administration in the state.
