JUST IN: Nigerians Call For JAMB Registrar's Apology

By Muraina Alidu

Nigerians and most especially the applicants intending to write the next Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) have called for apology of the Joint Admission Matriculation Board's(JAMB)'s Registrar, Prof.Isiaq Oloyede whose directives over the cancelation of NIN for the exams.

A constituent in Oyo State, Ona Ara Local Government Oladipupo Olalekan S in a letter forwarded to Senator Teslim Folarin and Hon. Akin Alabi representing Oyo Central Senatorial District and Egbeda/Ona-Ona Ara Federal Constituency  at the National Assembly, said that both members of red and green chambers of the National Assembly should as a matter of urgency invite Oloyede to appear before the parliamentarians and tendered an unreserved apology on his directives that led to the cancelation of National Identity Number (NIN) for the next UTME's use.

Oladipupo said his appearance and apology before the national parliamentarians became important because the lawmakers had earlier told him to stop the use of NIN as a prerequisite for the examination which Oloyede insisted that it would work without any hitch nor hindrance.

Oladipupo in his letter lamented that Oloyede had now called for its cancelation and registration's stoppage after many of NIN's officials extorted the applicants and banks' involvement to win many uninterested customers upon payment for the NIN through the banks.

He said the lawmakers who were representing the minimum of 50 thousand constituents knew what the applicants were going through, before they informed the JAMB's Registrar not to proceed with his plan over the NIN.

He added that," Oloyede needs to understand that no matter how good he might be, it must always be Nigerians first before any of his policies".
