61-Year-Old Cleric Kindness Wipes Off The Tears Of Handicaps,Orphans, Widows, Among Others.

The 61-year-old man and Islamic Cleric, Ustadh Qassim Busari Awelenje of Oke-Ago Compound, Okeho, Kajola Local Government Area of Oyo State has been described as a benefactor and good samaritan whose Centre for Islamic Purification in Nigeria(CIPURN) has been wiping the tears of the handicaps, orphans, widows and other less privileged people in the society irrespective of religious adherence.

The CIPURN which birth dated 1995 was consequent upon the readiness and eagerness to wipe off the tears and put smiles on the faces of the less privileged and downtrodden people in the society irrespective of religious dichotomy.

In an interaction with Awelenje in Okeho said CIPURN was birthed in 1995 and got registered with CAC as non-governmental and non-profit making centre which its purpose was sequel to his and others' readiness and determination to put smiles on the faces of handicaps, orphans, widows and the less privileged, among others in the society.

Awelenje said that the critical condition at which Afeez and other patients at University Teaching Hospital(UCH), Ibadan in 1995 were while paying visit to the hospital necessitated the birth of the centre with a view to rendering assistance to the sick and others in the society.

He said the centre was non-governmental, non-profit making and not run on the basis of religious differences.

Since its creation, Awelenje said the centre had been able to render assistance in cash and and kind to over 300 patients, financial assistance to over 217 unemployed people, 20 handicaps have been raised with money and materials, while two of the handicaps have been sponsored up to higher institutions of learning.

He added that 10 orphans had also been sponsored to higher institutions of learning, saying that some have completed their studies while some are currently in schools.

While exposing the sources of money to finance the centre, He said God had been helpful to the centre since its inception, adding that the influential people and kind ones in the society are reaching out to centre for help, also voluntary donations during ramadan and organised lectures are sources of fund to the centre.

On challenges facing the centre, he said people in public and private opposed the idea but eventually triumphed as he had no personal interest in the centre to benefit, adding that those that had sometimes opposed the centre are now good supporters of the centre.

He said that the centre was financially handicapped to currently cater for the handicaps, widows, sick and orphans who are in need of the centre.

He said that the centre's view was to ensure that there are no beggars on the streets seeking for money nor assistance in any form and the members are eager to take it to enviable heights in the nearest future.

In a phone conversation with one of the beneficiaries, Basirat Fashola, a visually impaired woman whom the centre has sponsored to NCE level, appreciated the centre and its stakeholders.

In her appreciation message, the Ilero born woman appreciated the centre for assisting her to be a literate person today despite her challenges.
