COVID-19: I Expect Constructive Criticism From All Quarters — Makinde. As He Appreciates People's Prayer Over His Health


The Governor of Oyo State, Engr Seyi Makinde has said that he would be welcoming constructive criticism that devoids of embellishment, frivolity and character assassinated statements from all quarters across the state and beyond.

Makinde made the disclosure of welcoming constructive criticism from all quarters while fielding questions from Mayor Isaac Brown of Fresh FM at his show, Fresh FM Covid-19 Situation Room meant to give updates about corona virus pandemic.
Makinde in his interactive session with the programme's anchor specifically said he would be expecting constructive criticism from the likes of Fresh FM, The Ace Broadcaster, Edmund Obilo and the state's chapter of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) among others.

In his appreciation, he said he was grateful to all people of the state for their payers and fasting aimed at ensuring that he recovers hale and hearty from corona virus pandemic, stressing that their prayers, fasting and utmost concern for his quick recovery had been granted.

On promises and requests, Makinde promised that now that he had recovered fully from the pernicious disease, he would not hesitate to improve better on the duties assigned to the State's Covid-19 Taskforce as he beseeched on the people of the state to continue to support, rally behind his administration and should not hesitate to offer valuable pieces of advice that will end the pandemic and move the governance to the enviable heights.

Makinde stressed that he would swing into action and take charge of the task as the head of the State's Covid-19 Taskforce, having firmly tested negative to second test result to civic-19 known as corona virus disease, stressing that he needed to visit some things that they have put in place while on isolation.

He thanked Professor Temitope Alonge, The Ex Chief Medical Director of University College Hospital(UCH), Ibadan for acting wonderfully well as interim head of state's covid-19 taskforce while he was previously indisposed.

On palliatives, Makinde said there would not be total lock down now when palliatives to cushion its effects have not been distributed to all the nooks and crannies of the state, adding that effort was in progress to makesure that people who are on compulsory lockdown have access to food items and other materials among others.

On Federal Government's palliatives to some local governments in Oyo State, Makinde said that he had been briefed about the selected ten(10) in the state,adding that what the FG planned was meagre and little compared to what the state has on board.

On donors, Makinde stressed that he had the knowledge that some people in the state like Lateef Fagbemi SAN,  Bode Akindele, Alhaji Yekeen Adeojo, Fresh FM and others have donated meaningfully to help the cause of ending the pandemic in the state, saying he was grateful to all!.

He enjoined the people of the state to cooperate with government on their compliance with the directives, take to hygienic measures and maintain social distancing among others.
