Oyo Speaker Ignores Impeachment Threat Rumour, Appeals For Support Against COVID-19


The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin has ignored the impeachment threat rumour orchestrated by some online media in the last few days.
The Speaker, instead of making comment on the rumour, was canvasing for government support from the people in the fight against the spread of coronavirus in Oyo State.

It was reported by some online media who could not establish the source of their information and where the impeachment story emanated from that some lawmakers are planning to impeach the Speaker, Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin.

The attention seeker journalists have been sampling opinion of some lawmakers on the unconfirmed report including the House Majority Leader, Hon. Sanjo Adedoyin, Chairman, Parliamentary Council, Ayotunde Fatokun and Hon. Isiaka Tunde, who is a member from the opposition party, All Progressive Congress, as well as Deputy Speaker, Hon. Muhammed Fadeyi.

The lawmakers in their separate reactions, described the impeachment report as a mere statement, baseless and does not warrant attaching any importance.

Whereas, the state assembly observed plenary sitting on Tuesday, and was presided over by Hon. Ogundoyin before the House went on two weeks recess because of the coronavirus.

Hon. Ogundoyin, in a voice message released by his Special Adviser on Media, Oyetunji Oyekunle, appealed to the people of the state and Nigeria as a whole to be vigilant and play their role in the fight against the disease of coronavirus by observing various guidelines established to curb the its spread. 

While praying to God to see the world through this trying moment, called for proper sanitization and maintaining social distancing measures to prevent the spread of the disease.
