Don't Allow Boundary Dispute To Divide Us — Oyo Deputy Govr


The Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Rauf Olaniyan had appealed to both Oyo and Ogun people not to allow land boundary dispute to divide the two states.


Speaking through the Oyo State Surveyor-General, Surveyor Abiodun Sekore Alaba, Engineer Olaniyan urged the two states to give room for the timely resolution of the dispute.


The appeal was made at the verification meeting held at the conference Room of the Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.


Earlier in her welcome address, the Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Engineer (Mrs) Moimot Salako – Oyedele advised all the affected parties to embrace peace and equally make peace their watch-word in the resolution of the disputed areas.


In their contributions both the representative of the Director General National Boundary Commission. Chief Surveyor Ugbah Chinma and the representative of the Surveyor – General of the Federation. Director Internal Boundaries Department, Surveyor Adebomehin Adeyemi said that they attended the meeting to check the reported technical discrepancies in the conversion from imperial to metric units in some sectors of the previously  resolved interstate boundary.


The meeting resolved to communicate on new date to the National Boundary Commission for purpose of reconvening the technical committee meeting in Abuja where all the outstanding issues at stake shall be resolved.


It would be recalled that in continuation towards the stakeholders approach to resolved the boundary dispute between Ogun and Oyo States, the National Boundary commission convened a field verification exercise to physically visit the field to check the reported technical discrepancies observed in the conversion from imperial to metric units in some sectors of the previously resolved interstate boundary.
