Oyo Council Boss(FM) Distributes Hand Sanitizers To Constituents; Sensitized Against Contraction Of CORONAVIRUS


The Caretaker Chairman of Iseyin South, Local Council Development Area(LCDA), Iseyin Area of Oyo State, Hon.Abdul-Raheem Ajibola FM has distributed sufficient numbers of hand sanitisers to the people of the area and equally sensitised them against contraction of corona virus pandemic ravaging the country and the world at large.

FM distributed the hand sanitisers on Friday, 27th March at the sensitisation programme accompanied with handbills and posters,which took place at the strategic places like Oja Agbe, Kara Area, Custom Area, Olepate Oluwole, Orita Iserin, Atori, Oja Adabo, KM 1 along Ibadan road and Ikere Garage among other places in Iseyin.

At a sensitization programme sponsored by FM and coordinated by Mrs Akintunde Florence Folake and other health officers called attention of the people of Iseyin Local Government to the prevalent corona virus pandemic ravaging Nigeria, Africa and world at large.

At its flag off that took place at Oja-Agbe Motor Park, FM said that it was no more a gainsaying and indisputable fact that corona virus pandemic has become a disease that has spread to almost states of the federation in Nigeria.

While substantiating the reasons that propelled the sensitisation exercise, FM said the sensitisation was aimed at telling the constituents that corona virus is no longer a disease that could be handled with levity hand, adding that although the virus had not spread to Iseyin, it was incumbent upon him to ensure that the people are prepared against its spread and equally have adequate knowledge and precaution on how to kick against its contraction.

On preparedness against its spread, FM stressed that there were many roads that link with Iseyin, adding that the numbers of immigrants coming from Lagos where the virus had become prevalent are more compared to other routes.

He said it had henceforth become imperative to all drivers to ensure that their passengers and most importantly the ones from Lagos are sanitised at their motor parks before they could be allowed mingling with those in town already.

FM taught them how  to wash their hands, clean their hands with dry towels and and subsequently apply sanitisers to their both hands, stressing that after the hand sanitisers had been applied,the people should within 10 minutes of its application distance themselves to fire because of its disastrous consequences.

FM at the park presented tap buckets, detergents and many hand sanitisers to the park manager who was saddled with responsibility of coordinating the sanitation exercise at the venue.

In his continuation of sensitisation exercise at other strategic places in Iseyin, FM enjoined people to take to the pieces of advice stated in both handbills and posters.
In his explanation, FM said people should wash their hands with soap for 20 seconds or use hand sanitisers(at least 60% alcohol) if soap and water are not available, stressing that people should avoid touching their eyes, noses and mouths with unwashed hands.

On continuation of tips to prevent coronavirus, FM said people needed to cover all coughs and sneezes with tissues and leaves, he stressed that face masks are not necessary for the general public but are used routinely by healthcare professionals and individuals who are already sick.

He encouraged people to stay home if they are sick but should ensure their  proper medical attention, and also added that people should avoid hand shake with others as the virus is easily contracted through hands and the sensitive organs.

FM said Governor Seyi Makinde has made concerted efforts in making provision for Oyo State's Nigeria Centre for Disease Control(NCDC) in Ibadan and Ogbomoso, adding that people needed to call these emergency numbers: 08062860943,07036691883 and 08055959988 provided they notice people with symptoms relating with COVID-19.
