The Oyo State government has declared that it was ready to curtail and contain the spread of coronavirus in the State.

The Commissioner of Health Dr Bashir Bello while reacting the alarm raised by the Nigerian Union of Journalist over alleged poor preparedness of the State maintained that the State has now prepared more centers to quarantine more suspected carriers of the virus.

Due the enormous tasks ahead, Dr Bello disclosed that more health professionals are also being trained to adequately equip them to handle the cases relating to Coronavirus.

Unlike the perviously announced, the major isolation centre earlier scheduled for Centre for disease control at Olodo , the Health Commissioner stated that the State has moved it to Jericho General Hospital which has five bed spaces.

" the Task Force headed by Governor Seyi Makinde on Sunday named Dr. Taiwo Ladipo of the ministry of Health as the incident manager in charge of the Operating Centres. In addition, a five- member committee of experts have been approved to act as Subcommittee to work round the clock."

Meanwhile Government of Oyo State has described as false the report suggesting that the Son of Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar who tested positive for Coronavirus attended the Unification rally of PDP held at Ibadan.

In a telephone conversation with the NUJ Chairman, Demola BABALOLA, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Seyi Makinde, Taiwo Adisa said while they sympathised with the family of former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, concerning the infection  of one of his sons by Coronavirus, the Atiku family has confirmed that the Son who attended the rally was not the one infected.

"We want to place on record for the notice of the general public that the information suggesting that the said son of @atiku was the same person that represented him at the South West PDP unification rally in Ibadan, Oyo state is false. We have since confirmed that a different member of the Atiku family is the person so infected. The public should please ignore such unfounded rumour."
The CPS further enjoined members of the public to stay calm and observe strict hygiene and stay safe.
