Oyo Residents Express Sadness As Okeho Ifo Ere-Iganna Road Turns A Death Trap.
The residents of Kajola Local Government Area of Oyo State have lamented over the total deplorable condition of Okeho Ifo Ere-Iganna road in Oke-Ogun axis of the state, which they claimed has currently become a death trap.
In a release made available to news men by the Secretary of Okeho Youth Progressive Forum, Comrade Abdul-Wasii said Okeho Ifo Ere-Iganna road was the major route that connects Okeho, the headquarters of Kajola Local Government with Iganna and the rest of Iwajowa Local Government leading to Republic of Benin has undoubtedly become a death trap.
Abdul-Wasii said from the time immemorial, the road had been abandoned for many years without being attended to, saying being the major road that leads to border just as Idi-Iroko border, Badagary-Seme border, Saki border and so on had been a major source of revenue to the government.
He said the road had a very serious threat to the lives of people of the affected communities, most especially the farmers, traders, motorists and other road users that ply it.
He added that the deplorable and terrible condition of the road has been paralysing and retarding the economic growth of the affected communities and has made life more miserable for the people living in the area.
Abdul-Wasii said the abandonment of the road without being attended to, by the government and other relevant authorities may continue to bring consequential discouragement to foreign investors from investing in the country and at large bring adverse effect to economy of the affected areas.
In view of the above, Abdul-Wasii appealed as a matter of urgency to both Oyo State and Federal Governments to reconstruct the road in order to put a stop to the current sufferings and economic hardship being encountered by the people of the area.
For God sake, when will Kajola have a sigh of relief and dividends of democracy in its environs? This is a Federal Constituency project initiated by a Senator of Oyo North Senatorial which must be continued to the completion and usage for its populace. The incumbent Senator must continue the project for proper objectivity.
