OPINION: Fashola should apologise

For dare saying Nigerian roads are not as bad as we are made to believe, the Minister of Works, Babatunde Fashola should immediately apologise to Nigerians. It is most unfortunate that such a statement which invariably connotes callousness is coming from him. That the statement came at a time nobody accused him of non-performance made it worse.

Looking at the magnitude of suffering motorists and travellers face daily on Nigerian roads, it is indeed nothing but a case of allowing the sleeping dog to lie.

I strongly believe the minister is judging Nigerian roads from what is obtainable at Abuja Central Business District where he is familiar with. Instead, I challenge him to move by road from Oshodi, in central Lagos, to Abeokuta via Ota and make a return journey to Oshodi. No sooner he would have done that than he would automatically change his perception and reverse the statement.

Let our leaders stop the idea of coming on air to say whatever they like because to then we are helpless.
