JUST IN: Appeal Court Upholds Dapo Abiodun’s Victory

The Court of Appeal sitting in Ibadan, Oyo State has affirmed the rulings of the Electoral petition tribunal that Ogun state Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun is the elected governor of the state
The tribunal sitting in Abeokuta, the state capital, had on September  4 dismissed the petition of his main challenger  Adekunle Akinlade of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).
Akinlade appealed the judgment of the Election Petition Tribunal in Abeokuta that upheld the victory of Abiodun as the Ogun State governor.
Other respondents in the appeal are the APC and Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The ground of Akinlade’s appeal was that Governor Dapo Abiodun was not qualified to contest the governorship election based on his false qualification and urged the court to uphold the appeal.
APM’s lead Counsel  Mr Sebastine Hon (SAN), said Abiodun submitted a false academic qualification to aid his qualification to contest the 2019 governorship election.
Hon contended that there was a difference between what he wrote in the form CFO submitted in 2015 to contest the Senatorial election and the one submitted in 2019 for governorship election.

Speakership: Group Disagrees With Ajimobi Over Support For Gbajabiamila

A group of youth in All Progressives Congress APC in Oyo state has frown at the Senator Abiola Ajimobi’s directive that House of Reps Members elect in the state should suppport a member of the National Assembly from Lagos state Hon Femi Gbajabiamila against wish of the state to produce the next speaker. Senator Ajimobi had at a private meeting held at his Oluyole resident with some members elect direct the lawmakers to support Hon Gbajabiamila as the speaker. But in a swift reaction, the group under the aegies of Itesiwaju Oyo said the governor’s directive is not only a bad decision but a further demonstration of his disdian for the growth of internal democracy in the party and the state. BREAKING: Popular Evangelist, Reinhard Bonnke is Dead

German Pentecostal evangelist, Reinhard Bonnke who is principally known for his gospel missions throughout Africa is dead aged 79. A post on his official Facebook page explained that he passed away peacefully and was surrounded by his family. “It is with sorrow that the Bonnke Family would like to announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Evangelist Reinhard Bonnke,” the statement read. “He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on December 7, 2019.
