LG CRISIS: Oyo Police Frown At Unfortunate Scenario In Surulere LG, Arrest Sacked Chairman Aide.


The Oyo state Commissioner of Police, CP Shina  Olukolu, has frowned at the  unfortunate scenario that played out yesterday, 3rd of February, 2020 around Surulere local government, Iresaadu area in Ogbomoso as a result of the lingering crisis in the  Local Government Chairmanship tussle in the state which led to the death of one person and several others injured in spite of the concerted efforts of Nigerian police to ensure that the menace is curbed in a professional manner without causing any discomfort to all and sundry.

According to his own account of the ugly incidence, the Divisional Police Officer, (DPO), Iresaadu stated that two cars belonging to sacked Surulere North LCDA Chairman, Hon. Isreal Ogundiran, with these registration number, Lagos KRD 747 FH and  Oyo RSD 17 SA respectively, while heading to Iwofin Ogbomoso, was reportedly attacked by alleged supporters of the Caretaker Chairman of Surulere Local Government, Iresaadu who were already at the Local government secretariat gate; hence, there was an exchange of gunshots between the two groups.

The DPO further stated that in the process it was alleged that the occupants of one of these two cars, precisely black Acura legend saloon car believed to be supporters of the Hon. Isreal Ogundiran opened fire that hit the slained Isah Azeez who was immediately rushed to Bowen Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso for medical attention but later reportedly died there.

He stressed further that one Dotun Shomefun who also was an occupant of the black Acura legend car sustained gunshot injuries too on the shoulder from the gunshot which was believed to be fired from the crowd of supporters of the Caretaker Chairmen outside the Secretariat gate and was taken to Ogbomoso by his group for treatment.

 The DPO assured that Dotun Shomefun who according to him has been in police custody after being certified stable will help in unraveling the perpetrators of this dastardly act and in the light of this, the Commissioner of Police has ordered the Deputy Commissioner of Police SCID, Iyaganku Ibadan to immediately take over the case file and commence detailed investigation into the unfortunate incidence with a view to preventing a reoccurrence and bringing the perpetrators to book.


In a related development, the Police have  arrested one Ibrahim Raji at the gate of Ibadan South-West Local Government, Aleshinloye with a locally made pistol and charms, while at Ibadan South-East Local Government, Mapo,  a sack containing eight cutlasses, one Axe and a UTC knife all meant to be used to commit crime have also been reportedly recovered.


 
The Commissioner of Police therefore assures that Nigerian police will not relent in her efforts to continue protecting the lives and properties of the people and implores the law abiding members of the public to stay calm as the Police is on top of the situation. He however warns all contending interest to desist from these acts of brigandage or be ready to face the full wrath of the law.
