Ex-Oyo Assembly Chief Whip Accused Of Killing Federal Lawmaker Quits Politics After Court’s Victory

FORMER Chief Whip of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Olafisoye Akinmoyede, who has just been discharged and acquitted by the Oyo State High Court over the murder of a federal lawmaker, Temitope Olatoye, has announced that he has stepped aside from partisan politics for a while.


He announced in an interview with journalists at Lalupon, his hometown in Lagelu Local Government Area, Ibadan, during a reception and special prayer session organised for him by his people to celebrate his court victory over the allegation of murder.


Akinmoyede, former chairman of Lagelu Local Government, that represented Lagelu state constituency in the eighth assembly on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC), explained that he decided to quit politics for a while so that he would have time to mourn the demise of his very close friend, Olatoye, calling on his supporters to support Governor Seyi Makinde of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to move the state and local government forward in the pacesetter state.

 A total of 14,406 poorest of the poor households across 19 local government areas of Oyo State have been captured to receive N7,500 every month under the World Bank Youth Employment and Social Support Operation (YESSO). Makinde To Appoint Adviser On Labour Matters, Negotiate Minimum Wage With Workers

The Oyo State governor-elect, Engr Seyi Makinde has congratulated the Nigerian Labour Congress in Oyo State on this year’s Labour Day and urged them to protect the interest of their members. In a release signed by his spokesperson, Prince Dotun Oyelade, Makinde said it is pertinent for the labour union and government to engage in constant dialogue in a very transparent and sincere manner to move the state forward at the advent of new administration in the state. He further asked them to discourage members from acts of collusion with desperate politicians who are taking advantage of the transitional period in the state. He reassured the union that his administration will be labour friendly and involve them in the day to day running of the administration by creating the office of a Special Adviser on Labour Matters.
