AKESAN: Oyo Lawmaker(Arole) Urges The Executive To Refurbish The Akesan Fire Station In Oyo.

The Lawmaker representing Oyo East/West in Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. K.T. Isiaka has moved a motion seeking for refurbishment of the fire station in Akesan, Oyo as one of the Geo-political zones in the state.

At the plenary session presided over by Rt. Hon. Debo Ogundoyin on Tuesday, February 4th,Isiaka in his motion resolved to urge the executive arm of government through the ministry of public works and transportation to put measures in place to expedite action on the refurbishment of Akesan Fire Station Oyo and as well urged to put measures in place for the creation of a dedicated way or path like BRT lane in Lagos State that must be used by other vehicles except fire truck under any circumstances to all the popular markets in the state to address the problem of inaccessibility to conflagration points.

Before his resolves, Isiaka, " notes with dismay the unfortunate but preventable inferno that razed an ancient Akesan market in ancient Oyo town on Sunday, January 1st,2020 as properties worth hundreds of million naira got ravaged by the fire and one life was also allegedly lost in the protest that ensued thereafter"

The Lawmaker," further notes rather incredibly that officers of the fire station situated opposite the market, just across the road did little to contain the conflagaration, owing allegedly to inadequate basic logistics".

He, "observes that the presence of the fire station as it failed to make any difference in assuaging the disaster, was as if there was no fire station at all within that vicinity in the first place" and moreover quoted a section of Nigerian constitution that makes provision for the security and welfare of the people.

Isiaka,"aware that the responsibility or blame for the future, oversight, neglect or negligence that occasioned the unfortunate incident under discussion cannot be reasonably laid at the door step of the present adminstration of Governor Seyi Makinde which is barely one year old, despite the truism that governance is a continue".

He appreciated Governor Seyi Makinde for his promise to rebuild the Akesan market, his promptly visit to the town to commiserate with the victims of the fire disaster and also for visiting Oba Lamidi Adeyemi on the unfortunate incident.
