WAR: ‘ALGON’ D‘ALGON’ Dares Makinde, Orders Sacked Chairmen, Councilors To Resume In Council Headquarters Tomorrow

Sacked chairmen of local government areas and local council development areas are poised for war.
Today, their leadership ordered them to resume duties in their various council headquarters as from tomorrow.

This is coming few hours after Seyi Makinde, governor of Oyo State, forwarded names of their replacement to the Oyo State House of Assembly.

The Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, ALGON, the Oyo State Chapter has resolved from her last general and emergency meeting held at its Secretariat here in Ibadan that having explored all the legal means and following what the Supreme Court says in respect of the inability of either the State Governor or The State House of Assembly to dissolve the democratically elected Local Governments Chairmen and Councillors, we hereby direct that all the Local Government Chairmen and Councillors that are democratically elected resume to their duty post and respective offices, tomorrow Wednesday 18th December, 2019.

Any Caretaker who is poise to forcefully take over their right of place should not be given chance. All necessary precautions have been taken as both the Commissioner of Police, Oyo State, Director, State Security Service and the Garrison Commander, 2nd  Division, Nigeria Army Headquarters, Adekunle Fajuyi Military Cantonment, Ibadan have all been duly notified to the illegal move of the Governor on the likely ugly incidences that might likely follow should he carry his plan appointment of Caretaker Committees to Local Government Councils and Local Councils Development Areas. No one should entertain any form of fears as all the security agents who have the mandate to protect lives and properties are have been informed.

 A total of 14,406 poorest of the poor households across 19 local government areas of Oyo State have been captured to receive N7,500 every month under the World Bank Youth Employment and Social Support Operation (YESSO). State Coordinator, Oyo State Operation Coordinating Unit (SOCU), Mrs Olaide Lasisi, made this known on Wednesday, in Ibadan, at a sensitisation of Chairmen of local government areas in the Community Based Targeting Exercise of the YESSO programme. Noting that the 14,406 households amounted to 58,435 individuals in its register of beneficiaries to collect N7,500, Lasisi said the state coordinating unit had also just identified another set of 14,594 households in the remaining 14 local government areas as potential beneficiaries. Makinde To Appoint Adviser On Labour Matters, Negotiate Minimum Wage With Workers

The Oyo State governor-elect, Engr Seyi Makinde has congratulated the Nigerian Labour Congress in Oyo State on this year’s Labour Day and urged them to protect the interest of their members. In a release signed by his spokesperson, Prince Dotun Oyelade, Makinde said it is pertinent for the labour union and government to engage in constant dialogue in a very transparent and sincere manner to move the state forward at the advent of new administration in the state. He further asked them to discourage members from acts of collusion with desperate politicians who are taking advantage of the transitional period in the state. He reassured the union that his administration will be labour friendly and involve them in the day to day running of the administration by creating the office of a Special Adviser on Labour Matters.
