NANS Laud Makinde's Dynamic Approach Towards The Revitalization Of Education In Oyo State.

The Leadership of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Oyo state chapter commend the government of Oyo State, which is transforming education right from primary level to tertiary level. Hence, we urge His Excellency to continue in his good governance towards ensuring that Oyo state keeps setting the pace.

NANS, Oyo State lauded the state government for earmarking 22 percent of the state’s new budget to education sector. We've received a whole lot of reports concerning Engr Seyi Makinde’s achievement in the education sector, which has brought about a mass withdrawal of students from private primary and secondary schools to public schools.

The executives of NANS, Oyo state understand that the huge investment by the government in education sector was a pointer towards a better future for the youth of the State. Consequently, We charge students in Oyo state to take advantage of the new opportunities provided by the governor.

The state government, in particular, deserve commendation as the budgetary allocation to education is closer to the 26 percent recommended for education by United Nations. We are appreciating the efforts of His Excellency towards the provision of high standard education and several welfare packages, such as notebooks, textbooks and past questions for primary and secondary school students, as well as disbursement of scholarship for students in law school among other efforts, which the students in the state is enjoying and will still enjoy.
 
With these steps been taken by the Executive Governor, obviously, the Governor understands what education  really means. Undoubtedly, education is what drives the world; it is what makes the difference from one generation to the other and any Government that want to be successful would have to invest in education and the students. 

The governor, who pledged during his campaign to reposition education sector and make the lives of everyone in Oyo state, including the students, an enviable one, really meant business and not turning back - a high level of commitment that we strongly appreciate.

We appreciate the Governor for His swift response and intervention on Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, and we still expect more of him in providing solutions to the problems being faced by students in various state-owned institutions throughout the state as we know him to be a father with a listening hear - a genuine problem solver and game changer.

 A total of 14,406 poorest of the poor households across 19 local government areas of Oyo State have been captured to receive N7,500 every month under the World Bank Youth Employment and Social Support Operation (YESSO). State Coordinator, Oyo State Operation Coordinating Unit (SOCU), Mrs Olaide Lasisi, made this known on Wednesday, in Ibadan, at a sensitisation of Chairmen of local government areas in the Community Based Targeting Exercise of the YESSO programme. Makinde To Appoint Adviser On Labour Matters, Negotiate Minimum Wage With Workers

The Oyo State governor-elect, Engr Seyi Makinde has congratulated the Nigerian Labour Congress in Oyo State on this year’s Labour Day and urged them to protect the interest of their members. In a release signed by his spokesperson, Prince Dotun Oyelade, Makinde said it is pertinent for the labour union and government to engage in constant dialogue in a very transparent and sincere manner to move the state forward at the advent of new administration in the state. He further asked them to discourage members from acts of collusion with desperate politicians who are taking advantage of the transitional period in the state. He reassured the union that his administration will be labour friendly and involve them in the day to day running of the administration by creating the office of a Special Adviser on Labour Matters.
