Oyo Elections Were Best In Nigeria – REC Agboke
Mutiu Agboke, the Resident Electoral Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission in Oyo State, has declared that elections in the state were the most free, fair and credible in the country.
Mutiu, who was one of the keynote speakers at the second Oyo State Youth Summit that was held in Ibadan, said that the feat was made possible because of the support of the people.
He said, “With the support of the various groups of youths, market women, pressure groups, the religious bodies and everyone in Oyo State made it possible for us to achieve that level of success.
“With your supports and encouragement, I stood my ground that Oyo election would be fair, free and that all votes must count and that was what really happened.
All of your votes were counted and the result was what we all witnessed, but if anyone said he has something else or saw me collecting money from anyone in guise of offering him or her favourable results can come out and tell the whole world.
“If anyone said he saw me or someone, or any of our officials writing any of the concluded election results, he can come out and tell the world, and I promise the person an award.”
While speaking on the theme of the programme which was “Young People Renegotiating Development Plan: Turning Our Demographic Dividends To Gains”, he said all youths must be focused, take their destinies in their hand, and should let their voice be heard, adding that they must register their voice in electioneering process.
In his contribution, the second keynote speaker at the event, Oyo State House of Assembly speaker, Edward Debo Ogundoyin, who was ably represented by the Deputy Speaker Abiodun Mohammed Fadeyi, said the political officials should make themselves available and accessible to the youths in their areas, adding that they should be on ground to assist them and also help them to achieve their dreams.
