MAKINDE INAUGURATES OYO 9TH HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY

The Oyo State 9th House Assembly has been formally inaugurated.
Governor Seyi Makinde made the proclamation to this effect in a well attended ceremony which took place at the legislative complex on Monday, June 10th2019.
Leading the lawmakers on electing principal officers, the Clerk of the House delivered a pep talk to the legislators-elect on the procedure of electing the principal officers of the House. Thereafter, the Clerk, Mrs Felicia Oyediran did a roll call of the members elect in order to ascertain that they were all present.
The Clerk of House now called for nomination for the office of Speaker. Hon. Babajide Adebayo representing Ib Northeast II state Constituency, nominated Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin for the office of Speaker. The nomination was unopposed. Hon, Adebo Ogundoyin who represents IBARAPA East State Constituency swiftly accepted the nomination.
At this point, the Clerk of the House announced that “Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin  has become the Speaker of the 9th House of Assembly”. He took his Oath of office at exactly 12:05pm.
Hon. Abiodun Fadeyi who represents Ona Ara State Constituency was nominated for the office of Deputy Speaker. The nomination was unopposed. He took the Oath of office at 12:25pm.
At 12:51pm the Oath of Office and Oath of Allegiance were administered on the members at once.
In his address, the governor, Engr Oluseyi Makinde described the emergence of young lawmakers in the 9th Assembly as a turning point for the state adding that his administration hopes to work on developmental projects.

"I will respect the autonomy of the House and uphold the doctoring of separation of power.
  
The  governor who promised to  reform agriculture, security youth empowerment and others admonished the House to work on two Executive Bills, Oyo State Investment Promotion Bill and Oyo State Financial Crime Commission Bill, adding that he will wave his  immunity to stand before the commission if found guilty.

Present at the inauguration are the Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Mr Rauf Olaniyan, the Chief of Staff to Oyo State government, Chief Bisi Ilaka, Head of Service, Mrs Hana Ogunsesan, former public officials, traditional rulers and faithfuls of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Governor Seyi Makinde congratulated the members of the House for the peaceful election through which they elected the principal officers of the House, He pledged to give them maximum support in their deliberations. He also said that the peaceful election was a sign of good things to come in Oyo State.
After they had all taken the Oath of Office and Oath of Allegiance, they held the maiden plenary session for the 9th House of Assembly. It was in this plenary session that the House was adjourned to Tuesday, 25th June, 2019.
