Adeolu Akande, Ismail Adewusi Get New Appointments in Buhari’s Cabinet.

President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Prof. Adeolu Akande as Chairman, Board of Commissioners of the Nigerians Communications Commission (NCC). Also from Oyo state is Dr Ismail Adebayo Adewusi who will now head the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) as as Postmaster General/CEO. Prof. Adeolu Akande will replace Senator Olabiyi Durojaiye as Chairman, Board of Commissioners of NCC which is subject to Senate confirmation while Dr Ismail Adebayo Adewusi replaces Barrister Bisi Adegbuyi as Postmaster General. Expectations that the crisis rocking the Ibadan traditional council is over may be far-fetched as one of the promoted high chiefs, Tajudeen Ajibola has denied dropping his crown for the promotion. Ajibola, who is one of the 21 high chiefs crowned as Obas by the immediate past governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi, was promoted from Osi Balogun Olubadan of Ibadan to Otun Balogun Olubadan of Ibadan. The 33LGAs and 35LCDAs care-taker chairmen designates swore in by the state governor have been screened and confirmed appointable by the Oyo state house of assembly on Wednesday, 18th December, 2019. The Oyo State Appropriation Bill for 2020 fiscal year was today passed into law by the State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde . The Lagos State Command of the Nigeria Police Force, has explained the reason for the arrest and detention of House of Representatives member, Shina Peller. The state Police Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana, said Peller’s club, Quilox, was fond of obstructing free flow of traffic. He explained that the lawmaker had been warned many times, but he refused to do anything about it. He said after some of his customers’ vehicles caused gridlock on Monday, the police intervened by towing three of the vehicles. Governor of Oyo state, Seyi Makinde says his administration will not chase street hawkers out of the street without providing them some alternative means of livelihood. Makinde made this known during a media chat with Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State (because) on Saturday while addressing issues bothering on governance in the state. According to him, “Street trading cannot be eradicated overnight. Some of them are breadwinners, and that is their main source of income. I agree it’s very dangerous. Our position is,. we can’t chase them off the street without an alternative. “The ones removed from Ojoo, were moved to the Akinyele trailer park. At scout camp, we reduced the rent for stalls and ordered installation of electricity, toilets etc. we have to be careful we don’t take away their means of livelihood without offering alternatives. “Dealing with the issue of street trading requires careful planning and implementation by the government,” he said.
