SHITTU: Unity Forum Will Retrieve APC From Predators.

Minister of Communication, Mr. Adebayo Shittu, on Saturday said himself and members of the unity forum in the All Progressives Congress(APC) in Oyo State will retrieve the party from predators.
Shittu stated this while having a live phone chat on a programme, South West political circuit, on Fresh FM, Ibadan.
He said the process to rebuild the party in the state will start soon, after the party’s defeat in the March 9, governorship and house of assembly elections.
The minister accused Governor Abiola Ajimobi of foisting the current executives of the party in the state on the party and the people, adding that they are challenging the composition of the party executives in court.
His words: “Let me recall, during the congresses in Oyo state, we had two congresses; Two factions of our party held parallel congresses.
“The governor’s faction and unity forum faction which has members four times that of the governor’s faction. Our party leaders at the national level by force accepted those who are not qualified as party executives.
“ Eventually what happened started from there. We are in court challenging to know the legally recognised executives of the party. The unity forum will certainly ensure that justice is done in the area of party congresses.
“That is what we are challenging, the emergence of the current executives. They have to be true to themselves but for Ajimobi they will not be there.
“Governor Ajimobi did what he did so that he could use them. He foisted on the party and the people the people who will continue to do his bidding.
“Clearly Ajimobi is a dictator, a betrayer; clearly everything you could think of.
“ Now that he has gone, we have to rescue all of those people away from him.
“Our lawyer unjustly terminated the cases from court, I have instructed lawyers from my chambers to appoint for the revisit of those cases and I have all the support of all members of the unity forum to do that. We are all waiting to collaborate in ensuring that we retrieve our party from predators.
“We will bring everybody on board, we will retrieve our party; We will start soonest by the grace of God.”
Speaking about the unity forum members who had left the party for other political parties, the minister stated that unity forum is not about an individual, noting that it is about a movement of the generality of APC members in the state.
“They are in APC, you will have to show me when they resigned their membership of APC, “ he added.
While also speaking about the case he instituted against the party for barring him from contesting in the governorship primaries because he did not have a NYSC certificate which was struck out by the Federal High Court on Friday for failing to file the suit within the time stipulated by law , Shittu, said he will appeal the judgment and fight it all the way to the Supreme Court if necessary.
He said the suit was filed after the 14 days period stipulated by law because the party have a mechanism of resolving issues internally which must be explored before approaching the court.
The minister also said he is confident President Muhammadu Buhari, would reappoint him into the new cabinet that would be formed soon, adding that the president would not appoint “failed politicians.”

Makinde To Appoint Adviser On Labour Matters, Negotiate Minimum Wage With Workers

The Oyo State governor-elect, Engr Seyi Makinde has congratulated the Nigerian Labour Congress in Oyo State on this year’s Labour Day and urged them to protect the interest of their members. In a release signed by his spokesperson, Prince Dotun Oyelade, Makinde said it is pertinent for the labour union and government to engage in constant dialogue in a very transparent and sincere manner to move the state forward at the advent of new administration in the state.
