I have been amused, reading a number of jokes concerning the Oyo State govt-Elect Engr Seyi Makinde's  foreign trips and many questions have been raised about why moving from one Country to others since he won the election, and what are the benefits Of the trip to the people of Oyo State?

I will make it clear from the beginning that the critic is entitled to his and her opinion and nothing said here is intended to silence him or her. Criticism goes with the territory and as it is often said in a wisecrack, if you don’t like the heat, get out of the kitchen.

Seyi Makinde came in under the mantra of Omituntun. While Oyo State are yearning for Omituntun, you need someone who will set up the infrastructure, both at home and abroad for it, in which he busy making connection on his visit. The visit by any governor to another country is the highest act in international relations,and It sends out a message that, that State is important to the visitor.

 Engr Seyi Makinde also know that his achievements at home after his Inauguration will be meaningless if he cannot project them abroad. Who or where are the foreign investors,whose hand you are seeking if you can’t travel meet them? Will they come if they don’t know about the State? It is against this background that I felt the need to pen this opinion in the hope of bringing better understanding to fellow men and women on the current subject matter, since there is no reason to be angry with anyone criticizing Engr Seyi Makinde for traveling abroad. In politics, even if Seyi Makinde were to bring with him a suitcase full of cash and a pot gold each time he returned from a trip, someone will criticize him, saying that the journey is wasteful.

The APC  will kick, knowing that they got 8 years and did nothing with it. Those who didn’t do much during their term of governance will find it instructive to fault whatever the Seyi Makinde is doing. My own point here is that he is doing a great job and the fruits, will soon come. He is working to strengthen diplomatic relations, trade and the security of the State. He has been holding serious meetings with serious investors as we could see most of the post. He will definitely make Oyo State great,what the APC fooled us for 8years. As a result Oyo citizens should be proud of the attention, love and admiration, importance, respect and investment he is bringing to Oyo State. These trips are not for enjoyment.

Lastly, to answer those who ask , what is he bringing back home?

Oyo State is  not a State of beggars. It is good if something is in the bag as he comes home from a trip, but the most important task for the govt elect  at this time is to reset the image of Oyo State abroad, given the damage it sustained over many years in the past. In fairness, he is  projecting a large image of Oyo State and of himself which should be a matter of pride for all Oyo State citizens. Marketing of Brand Oyo State can never be more important than currently it is.

Engr Seyi Makinde is doing a great job for Oyo State. He needs to be Supported.

 A total of 14,406 poorest of the poor households across 19 local government areas of Oyo State have been captured to receive N7,500 every month under the World Bank Youth Employment and Social Support Operation (YESSO). Makinde To Appoint Adviser On Labour Matters, Negotiate Minimum Wage With Workers

The Oyo State governor-elect, Engr Seyi Makinde has congratulated the Nigerian Labour Congress in Oyo State on this year’s Labour Day and urged them to protect the interest of their members. In a release signed by his spokesperson, Prince Dotun Oyelade, Makinde said it is pertinent for the labour union and government to engage in constant dialogue in a very transparent and sincere manner to move the state forward at the advent of new administration in the state. He further asked them to discourage members from acts of collusion with desperate politicians who are taking advantage of the transitional period in the state. He reassured the union that his administration will be labour friendly and involve them in the day to day running of the administration by creating the office of a Special Adviser on Labour Matters.
