Oyo Lawmaker Doles Out Items Worth Millions of Naira to Students, Task Them On Healthy Living.

Building an evidence and right based approach to a healthy decision making has been canvassed by the Honourable representing Akinyele constituency1, Ayotunde Fatokun. 

He made the call today as he declared open a two-day sensitisation program tagged HEALTH PROMOTION: A TOOL FOR BRIGHTER TOMORROW held at PADE Community High School, Ibadan.


Honourable Fatokun who doubles as the Chairman Parliamentary Council at the Oyo state House of Assembly spoke vehemently on the need for the students to create healthy minds that will aid their psychological and emotional well-being. He bears his mind on the reason for the initiative.


"Fatokun said he realised the need to sensitize the female students on some basic health related issues during the tour of his consistuency.


He harped on the need for a better well being of the students. 
The event which was held in conjunction with GROOMING GIRLS INTO EXCEPTIONAL WOMEN INITIATIVE had in attendance women from different professions such Medince,Pharmacy took their turn to educate the students on some health tips.On her part,a medical practitioner, Mrs Oluwatobi Olaniyi educated the students on the need to have positive attitudinal changes for the present and future,creating healthy minds,social relationship,cervical cancer prevention,unwanted pregnancy, health insurance and breast cancer prevention. 


Over one thousand female students were drawn from various schools such as Pade community High School, Ikereku Community Grammar School, Community High school Atapa, Anglican Grammar School Agbirigidi,Community High School Olanla,Community High School Tose, Moniya,Community High School Otun Agbaakin, Community High School Iyana off Akinrin Moniya amongst others were in  attendance at the sensitization programme which kicked off on Thursday and was concluded this Friday.  Few of the students and the their teachers express their views on the sensitization programme and thanked Hon Ayotunde Fatokun for bringing this great initiative to schools located suburb areas of Ibadan. 


The high point of the event was the distribution of items worth millions of Naira to all the participants,these include toothpaste, toothbrush, hand sanitizers, soaps, mosquito nets, teaching and learning materials.

 A total of 14,406 poorest of the poor households across 19 local government areas of Oyo State have been captured to receive N7,500 every month under the World Bank Youth Employment and Social Support Operation (YESSO). State Coordinator, Oyo State Operation Coordinating Unit (SOCU), Mrs Olaide Lasisi, made this known on Wednesday, in Ibadan, at a sensitisation of Chairmen of local government areas in the Community Based Targeting Exercise of the YESSO programme. Makinde To Appoint Adviser On Labour Matters, Negotiate Minimum Wage With Workers

The Oyo State governor-elect, Engr Seyi Makinde has congratulated the Nigerian Labour Congress in Oyo State on this year’s Labour Day and urged them to protect the interest of their members. In a release signed by his spokesperson, Prince Dotun Oyelade, Makinde said it is pertinent for the labour union and government to engage in constant dialogue in a very transparent and sincere manner to move the state forward at the advent of new administration in the state. He further asked them to discourage members from acts of collusion with desperate politicians who are taking advantage of the transitional period in the state. He reassured the union that his administration will be labour friendly and involve them in the day to day running of the administration by creating the office of a Special Adviser on Labour Matters.
