Oyo Assembly Urges Makinde to Revive Agriculture Through Resuscitation of OYSADEP to Improve IGR.


The Oyo state house of assembly has call on the executive arm of government under, Engr Seyi Makinde and  to revive Agriculture through the resuscitation of Oyo State Agricultural Development(OYSADEP), and improve state Internally Generated Revenue IGR. 

In a motion presented by the lawmaker represent Iseyin/Itesiwaju state constituency, Hon B O Adeola Titled "Need To Revive Agriculture Of The State Through Resuscitation Of Oyo State Agricultural Development",

The house noted that "the Creation of OYSADEP was aimed at peoviding effective agricultural extension services and complementary infrastructural facilities such as dams, well and rural roads in other to improve the income and standards of living of People in Oyo state.

The house  explained further that "successive administrations pay less attention to adequate budgetary provisions to agriculture. In approved budget of 2016, government allocated N2.5billion to agriculture representing 3.4 percent of the total budget. 

"The claim of Oyo state government in the past Four Years that agriculture remains priority did not reflect in the budgetary Allocated to agriculture and even release of funds from the little allocated to agriculture sector for proper implementation of agricultural policies and programmes. 


Also observed that, government has not fully exploited opportunities and potential that abounds OYSADEP for abundant food production and total agricultural revolution in the state. And government should give necessary support to the agency for better service delivery through resuscitation of many activities of the agency.

Also added some need to be address by governor Seyi Makinde administration, like provision of mobility for proper supervision (Utility vehicles for field officers) to enable extension workers follow their schedules to the letter.

The house urges the executive arm of government, "Ministry of Agriculture and rural development to revive the agricultural sector of the state through aggressive resuscitation of Oyo State Agricultural Development.

"Ministry of Finance and Budget to encourage increased budgetary allocation to agriculture in subsequent proposals of the state and facilitate prompt release of funds to the ministry of agriculture for better service delivery.

The lawmakers also charged the government through ministry of agriculture and rural development to encourage direct purchase of farm produced from farmers for purpose of storage with a view to assist farmers in the state.
