Oyo Assembly Summons Transport Ministry, OYTMA Over Indescriminate Parking In Ibadan

The Oyo state House of Assembly has asked the Ministry of Works and Transport, and the Oyo State Transport Management Agency, OYTMA, to appear before it on the 7th of May to explain the indiscriminate parking of cars in Ibadan metropolis, especially by commercial drivers.
This followed a motion on the need to curb the menace of indiscriminate parking of vehicles by commercial motorist, moved by  a member representing Ibadan Southwest 2, Mr Olusegun Ajanaku.
The House also summoned the State Ministry of Works and Transport to explain its plans at preventing indiscriminate parking by drivers of commercial vehicles.
The house frowned at the way Micra drivers park indiscriminately to pick passengers, which often times cause traffic on the roads.
Similarly, the House directed the Ministry of Lands, Housing, Environment and the House Committees on Transport, Environment, Lands and Physical Planning to investigate the siting of a filling station at “Save and Serve” junction, Ologuneru Ibadan, which poses danger to motorists plying the road.
Deputy Speaker, Mr Abdulwasi Musah during a matter of public importance, called the attention of the House to the possible danger the filling station might bring to commuters, making reference to the recent fire incident at Iwo road some weeks ago.
The House called on the Committees to do its findings and report to the house within a week.
Members of the House later paid tribute to the late Speaker of the House, Rt Honourable Michael Adeyemo who died on the 27th of April 2018, during a brief illness.
