The Speaker,Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon Adebo Ogundoyin has harped on the need for clerics to continue to remember the administration of Gov Seyi Makinde in their daily prayers and devotion to enable him take the state to a higher pedestal of growth and development as promised during the election. SOUTHWEST Governors To Establish "Western Nigeria Security Network"(WNSN)

Governors in the six Southwest states are putting finishing touches to the inauguration of a joint regional security outfit codenamed Western Nigeria Security Network (WNSN). This followed the Approval in Principle given by the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) for the zone to establish a Joint Task Force (JTF) to tackle killings, banditry and kidnapping in the Southwest. The governors rose from a security summit in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital in July, where they decided to defend their domain. A source close to the project confided in   The Nation   on Sunday that the six governors had procured the patrol vans to be used by the outfit in readiness for the launch by October. The Kogi State National Assembly/State Assembly Election Petition Tribunal has quashed the victory of Senator Dino Melaye representing Kogi West Senatorial district. Melaye (PDP) was declared winner in the February election by INEC but Senator Smart Adeyemi (APC) approached the tribunal, challenging INEC declaration on three grounds of irregularities, over voting and non compliance with the electoral acts. The three man panel led by Justice A. O. Chijioke in a unanimous judgment on Friday accepted Adeyemi’s ground and ordered for reelection into the senatorial axis.

The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) has declared inconclusive its probe into the rape allegation by celebrity photographer, Mrs Busola Dakolo, against the founder of Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA), Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo. The Christian body said the five-man investigative panel it set up sat for over a month with presentations and attendance by key stakeholders, such as non-governmental organisations (NGOs), church leaders and others. PFN’s National Publicity Secretary, Bishop Emma Isong, who addressed reporters yesterday on the outcome of the panel’s sitting, said Mrs Dakolo and her husband, Timi, also attended the sittings. The cleric said the panel could not conclude its assignment because Fatoyinbo refused to show up, despite “several invitations and efforts”. The Oyo State House of Assembly has confirmed Seun Fakorede, a 27-year-old, nominated for the office of commissioner for Youth and Sport and others. Governor Seyi Makinde had sent Fakorede’s name to the Assembly alongside that of Professor Raphael Afonja, and Faosat Joke Sunni in a list of his second batch of cabinet nominees. Recall that some senior citizens had earlier today, staged a protest against the nomination of the young commissioner nominee. Their protest fueled a counter protest from youth groups who came out to pledge their support for the 27-year-old. The three were screened by the House of Assembly on Thursday, August 21, 2019 and were all approved. Oyo House Speaker, Adebo Ogundoyin, announced the approval on Thursday, and praised Governor Makinde for nominating the commissioners-designate. He said: “The Oyo State House of Assembly has confirmed 27-year-old Fakorede Seun Temidayo of Ibarapaland and two others as commissioners of the Oyo State Government.”

Suspected armed robbers on Tuesday attacked the convoy of Nasarawa State Deputy Governor, Dr Emmanuel Akabe, killing three policemen and a civilian. Akabe was on his way to Abuja on an official engagement when the convoy ran into the robbers who were operating few kilometres away from Akwanga at about 6pm. ASP Usman Samaila, Police Public Relations Officer of the state Police Command confirmed the incident in Lafia. Samaila, however, did not give details, saying the commissioner of Police, Bola Longe had led a team of officers to the scene to assess the situation. “As I speak with you now, the Commissioner of Police, the Deputy Commissioner Operations and other high ranking officers of the command have gone to the scene of the incident,” Samaila said. The Oyo State Government has announced that it is ready to employ the World Bank-assisted Better Education Service Delivery (BESDA) takeoff grant in educating about 170, 536 out-of-school children and hawkers. Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde With a population of over 3 million in Ibadan, only 23 out of 33 local government areas will receive this new development. The Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Elder Simon Achuba has filed an application before the State High Court, Lokoja. The Deputy Governor is challenging the purported impeachment notice served on him by the State House of Assembly, on grounds that it was served out of time and marred with irregularities. The case is set for hearing on the date to be announced soon by the court. DAILY POST recalls that the State Assembly had earlier commenced an impeachment process against the Deputy Governor over alleged gross misconduct. The impeachment notice was read by the majority leader of the House, Abdullahi Bello (Ajaokuta, APC) as a petition on the floor of the Assembly. He said the petition was based on three grounds of criminal indulgence, financial misappropriation and non-performance.
